The new Migration law will be effective this year (specific date is not yet announced). The main condition of this law is the fact that as an individual you are not allowed to arrange for an au pair to come to the Netherlands. This procedure can only be done by an authorized au pair agency. This new law was passed for the protection of Au Pairs. In a legal sense Au Pairs are not seen as employees, but youngsters who participate in a cultural exchange program. Only authorized agencies may bring and house au pairs to the Netherlands.
